Dear West Heights Families,
It is with great joy and a deep sense of gratitude that I welcome you to a brand-new school year at West Heights Elementary. To our returning students and familiesâwelcome back! Iâm so glad to continue this journey with you. To those who are joining us for the first timeâwelcome! You are now part of a community that values care, connection, and the unique gifts each student brings.
The beginning of a school year is always a special time, filled with possibility and excitement. Classrooms are ready, hallways are buzzing with energy, and new friendships are waiting to be made. I can already feel the momentum of a year that promises growth, discovery, and joy for every learner.
As many of you know, I am of MĂ©tis, Mohawk, and settler ancestry. I grew up on Vancouver Island, where I met my husband of over 30 years and began my teaching career. Over the past 25+ years, Iâve taught a wide range of subjects (science, math, drama, French, English, LST) and have been an elementary Principal for over 10 years. What grounds me in all of this work is a simple truth: schools should be places where every child feels safe, welcome, and inspired to learn.
At West Heights, we believe in nurturing both hearts and minds. Each child comes to us with their own strengths, needs, and dreams, and it is our shared responsibility to help them thriveâacademically, socially, and emotionally. Together with our dedicated staff, supportive families, and vibrant community, I am excited to continue building an environment where every student is known, valued, and empowered to grow.
My door remains open to youâwhether youâd like to share an idea, raise a question, or simply stop by to say hello. I am eager to celebrate the yearâs successes with you and to work together through its challenges.
Hereâs to a wonderful 2025 school year filled with curiosity, courage, and joy. I canât wait to see all that we will accomplish together.
Warmest regards,
Angela Magon
